Hiram Boateng’s future at Crystal Palace has been thrown into gear after manager Alan Pardew revealed he’s unsure about the midfielder’s involvement with the first team this season.
Boateng, 20, has been part of the side’s pre-season programme so far to signify positive vibe he could be handed an opportunity to impress.
But manager Alan Pardew says he’s unsure about the Ghanaian’s involvement this term.
“They have got a big step to make,” Pardew was quoted as saying by the Croydon Advertiser.
“Doing well on loan in League One is all well and good, but getting into a Premier League team and in front of internationals, it will be a very, very difficult for Sullay and Hiram.
“They are pushing hard, but it’s a big hurdle for them to overcome. I don’t think our fans should expect them to overcome it, but if they do, it will be a massive bonus for us.
“Both do have great talent, though, and I do think they will make the group at some stage.
“Whether it’s the start of this campaign, we’ll have to wait and see.”
Boateng joined the Eagles as an eight-year-old and marked his Premier League debut last season, coming on as a second half substitute in the 1-1 draw with Swansea.
The midfielder has parents of Ghanaian heritage but is yet to represent Ghana or birth place England at any level.
