Ghanaian midfielder Sebastian Bonsu-Amako has signed his first professional contract with Crystal Palace, marking an important step in his development and his pursuit of a breakthrough in senior football.
The teenager has been rewarded after making a strong impression within Palace’s academy during the club’s memorable 2025/26 campaign. Despite being an Under-16 player at the time, Bonsu-Amako was given opportunities to play for the Under-18 side, making him one of the first players from his age group to step up.
Bonsu-Amako’s progress reflects the confidence Crystal Palace have shown in his ability to perform above his age group. A composed and intelligent midfielder, he has developed a reputation for bringing calmness and control to the centre of the pitch, while also contributing through his defensive awareness.
He made 13 appearances across the season, providing balance in midfield and showing confidence whenever he was called upon. His involvement with the Under-18s represented a significant stage in his development, particularly because he was competing against older players while still officially part of the Under-16 group.
The midfielder’s maturity was especially clear during the closing stages of the campaign. He completed the full 90 minutes in matches against Norwich City, Ipswich Town and West Bromwich Albion, underlining the trust placed in him by the coaching staff.
His season came to an end after those appearances because of his GCSE commitments. Even so, his performances had already been enough to earn him a first professional deal at Crystal Palace.
The contract represents a notable milestone for Bonsu-Amako as he continues to progress through the club’s system. His performances have highlighted his ability to remain composed in midfield, maintain control of matches and provide defensive protection for his team.
