Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has sounded a note of caution about the threat posed by Croatia after Ghana were drawn in a tough Group L for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars will face Panama, England and 2018 finalists Croatia at the tournament following the draw held in Washington, D.C.
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before taking on England on June 23 in Boston, and wrapping up their group matches against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Adams highlighted Croatia’s tactical flexibility as a key concern.
“Everybody knows how dangerous Croatia have been in the previous World Cup. They have had different strategies. They are a team that can change their style about three times within 90 minutes of play,” he said.
The 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, will feature an expanded 48-team format, with Africa receiving a record nine automatic slots.
This will mark Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance, with their best run coming in 2010, when they reached the quarter-finals.
