English Championship side Coventry City have confirmed the departure of head coach George Boateng after 17 games in charge.

Boateng’s contract was terminated following a mutual agreement during a meeting with the club’s management on Monday afternoon.

The Ghanaian manager had a difficult start, winning six times, drawing five, and suffering nine defeats since joining the club.

“We would like to thank our legend George for his contribution to the Sky Blues since his return to the club in summer, George was a popular figure, adding to his 57-games and seven goals during his playing spell at the club in the 1990s,” the club said on social media.

Boateng has been replaced by former Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
