The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has denied allegations of diverting GH¢12 million meant for cocoa farmer payments to sponsor the Black Stars.
In a statement, COCOBOD described the claims as “false, misleading, and without any factual basis”.
The board emphasized that its focus remains on supporting cocoa farmers, including prompt payments for cocoa purchases and providing essential services.
“At no point has COCOBOD diverted funds meant for farmer payments to support the Black Stars,” the statement read.
COCOBOD urged the public to disregard the circulating claims and rely on official communication channels for accurate information.
The denial comes amid public scrutiny over funding allocations for national activities, with COCOBOD seeking to reassure stakeholders, particularly cocoa farmers, that their interests are paramount.
The board reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing the welfare of cocoa farmers and sustaining investment in the cocoa sector.
