Hearts coach CK Akunnor has been given an ultimatum to win Ghana’s version of the ‘El Classico’ against bitter rivals Kotoko on November 18, or face the exit door.

Hearts have struggled to assert themselves in the top-flight under the tutelage of the former Eleven Wise trainer.

There have been growing calls for his dismissal after suffering three defeats in a row- a performance which is seen as untenable by many of their demanding supporters.

A high ranking source within Hearts has revealed to GHANAsoccernet.com that the club has told the 38-year-old to win their game against Real Tamale United on Sunday and most crucially their tie against sworn rivals Kotoko on November 18, or it will be his final outing in charge of the 2000 African champions.

The source has also added that the win will need to be convincing for the coach to survive the axe.

Akunnor joined Hearts last season but has failed to win over his critics as the team continues to put up sub-standard performances in the elite division this term.

The club’s Directors are expected to take a firm decision on the future of the ex-Ghana captain and his backroom staff by the close of the week.

Long-standing physical trainer WO Tandoh has resigned from the club after he clashed with team manager Patrick Madjitey in camp.

There are growing reports of mutiny among the playing body – a situation the Board of Directors are bent on resolving before it spiral out of control.

Hearts played catch-ups to emerging forces like Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea as well as rivals Kotoko in the past three seasons.

They will battle defending champions at the Baba Yara stadium on November 18.
