Ghanaian winger, Christian Atsu is missing and officials are “still searching for him” after his rescue, 24 hours under rubble.
Atsu was reported to be found and pulled out from the wreckage caused by the deadly earthquake in Turkey on Monday.
Hatayspor Manager Mustafa Özat said: “Christian Atsu was removed injured. Our sporting director, Taner Savut, is unfortunately still under the rubble. We are coming towards the end of the most dangerous hours.”
Fastforward, several hours after the news was confirmed, the 31-year-old is no where to be found.
“Yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here informed that they want to confirm if Atsu has been found and rescued, and sent to a medical centre.
“However, in all the confusion – which is understandable under the circumstances [as you are rescued you are put in an ambulance and sent to the hospital] – they are not sure yet which particular hospital or health facility he [Atsu] has been sent to,” Ghana’s ambassador to Turkey, Francisca Ashietey-Odunton told JoySport.
