Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton expressed satisfaction with their performance as they secured the top spot in their group during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana finished their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over the Central African Republic, with goals from Mohammed Kudus and Ernest Nuamah.
This win ensured the Black Stars’ qualification for the tournament, having finished the qualifiers unbeaten with 12 points, topping Group E.
Hughton acknowledged the rising level of African football and credited his team’s achievement, especially considering the ongoing development of his squad, which has seen the introduction of ten new players.
“First and foremost my experiences so far is that the level of African football has increased and if I am not mistaken we actually finished top of our group.
“I think that is something to be proud of. It is always about development when you look at the squad even when I came in ten new players has been introduced to the squad,” he said at the post-match.
