Former Ghana boss Chris Hughton has thrown his support behind Mohammed Kudus’ decision to join Tottenham Hotspur, describing the move as a smart step in the midfielder’s career.

Kudus completed a £55 million transfer from West Ham United during the summer window, a deal that placed him among the club’s most expensive signings.

Since arriving in North London, the 25-year-old has managed one goaland provided four assists across 17 outings in all competitions.

Hughton, speaking to Flashscore, said Tottenham’s investment aligns perfectly with the qualities the Ghana international brings.

“I think it was an excellent signing,” Hughton said. “The deal for Kudus made a lot of sense, especially from a financial perspective. Tottenham needed a player of his profile.”

He went on to highlight the fit between Kudus’ playing style and the club’s tactical approach. “It’s a big stadium, a big stage in England, and he’s started his Tottenham career very well. He fits seamlessly into a system that favours crosses into the box,” he added.

Kudus recently returned from injury in the derby against Arsenal, and his availability boosts expectations that he will feature in the upcoming clash with Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
