Black Stars Technical Advisor, Chris Houghton has given Ghana new boy Tariq Lamptey his stamp of approval following his maiden call-up to the national team.
The Brighton and Hove Albion defender was named in the latest Ghana squad by Coach Ottto Addo alongside four other debutants for the upcoming international friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua.
The 21 year old decided to switch his national allegiance to Ghana in July after representing England at youth level.
The London-born right-back featured from Under 18 to U21 level in the past for the Three Lions but has now switched his allegiance to the Black Stars – who he qualifies to play for through his parents.
“The beauty with someone like Lamptey is of course he’s young, he’s enthusiastic, he’s very excited about the prospect of being involved but had a lot of adoptability on where he can play. He has pace” Chris Houghton said in an interview with Ghanaweb.
Lamptey is in line to make his Black Stars debut when Ghana face Brazil on Friday, September 23, at Stade Oceane in Le Harve- France
