The 47th edition of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards was held on Saturday, January 28, at the Accra International Conference Centre to honour sports personalities who performed incredibly well in the year under review.

Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus scooped the ultimate prize after he was named Sports Personality of the Year.

The Ajax star also bagged the Foreign-based Footballer of the Year award, winning the category ahead of Arsenal’s Thomas Partey and Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew. 

In Athletics, Joe Paul won the SWAG Male Athlete of the Year, beating Benjamin Azamati to the prize. 

Mensah, who also won a silver medal in the Bantamweight division at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, won the prize for the Amateur Boxer of the Year at the awards ceremony.
