In another significant move aimed at fortifying women’s football in Ghana, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the appointment of Charles Anokye Frimpong as the head coach of the new U18 female national team. Frimpong, a former Assistant Coach of the Black Queens, brings extensive experience and expertise to his new role, holding a prestigious CAF License A Coaching Certificate.
Assisting Frimpong in guiding the U18 female national team will be Gifty Ayew Asare, who currently plies her trade as Assistant Coach for Epiphany Ladies FC.
Asare, a holder of a CAF License C coaching certificate, adds her valuable insights and coaching acumen to the coaching staff.
These appointments are in line with the GFA’s Women’s Football Strategy, which aims to redefine and elevate women’s football in Ghana. The introduction of new national teams, including the U16, U18, U21, and U23 squads, underscores the Association’s commitment to nurturing talent at various age levels and providing a pathway for young female players to progress through the ranks.
Frimpong was one of five coaches who were sponsored by the Association to pursue a capacity-building program in the Netherlands.
