Former Ghana Football Association chairman, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has attributed Ghana’s disappointing exit from the 2022 African Nations Championship tournament to using over-aged players.
The Black Galaxies were ousted from the ongoing CHAN following a 2-0 defeat to Niger on Saturday in the quarter-finals.
It is a stepback from their last participation eight years ago where the team reached the finals and eventually lost to Libya on penalties.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe said: ‘There is one thing we must get clear. Until we get our age right, we shall always lack behind.
“If you watch carefully, our players were older than our opponents and I can say with confidence that 75 per cent of our players were more than 35 years old.
“Modern football is about speed and stamina if you don’t have it, forget about it and the younger ones are those who can do that.”
The Black Galaxies contingent is expected back in to the country by the close of this week.
