Central African Republic (CAR) head coach Raoul Savoy is ready to make history ahead of their final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Thursday.
Ghana is set to host CAR at the Baba Yara Stadium in a match that holds the key to qualification for the continental tournament to be held in Ivory Coast in January 2024.
The Wild Beasts from CAR understand that victory against Ghana in the upcoming match is vital for their chances of securing a spot in the prestigious tournament.
In contrast, the four-time AFCON champions, Ghana, require just a single point to secure their qualification.
Currently topping Group E with 9 points, Ghana maintains a narrow one-point lead over second-placed Angola and a two-point advantage over CAR in third place.
Although Savoy acknowledges that the Black Stars are clearly the favorites going into the game, the gaffer is adamant his team can cause an upset.
“Every time, every day we have surprises. It is not about confidence, it is about respect for the opponent…[I’ll] push my players to do their best tomorrow and try to write history.”
