In a major setback for Central African Republic, their captain Geoffrey Kondogbia will be sidelined for their upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Ghana next month.
The Wild Beasts will have to face Ghana without their star player and skipper, Geoffrey Kondogbia, who sustained an injury while playing in the French Ligue 1 last weekend. The injury occurred during his second league appearance for Olympique Marseille against FC Metz in the new season. Kondogbia was forced to leave the match in the 56th minute, making way for Jordan Veretout.
Unfortunately for the 30-year-old midfielder, the injury will keep him out of action for several weeks, effectively ruling him out of the crucial game against the Black Stars.
Central Africa is set to go up against Ghana in the final round of the AFCON qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Raoul Savoy’s team will need a victory in this game to secure their spot in their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations tournament next year. Meanwhile, Ghana only requires a draw to secure their qualification.
