Joshua Larbi Yirenkyi says he is proud of his son’s rise from humble beginnings to the English Premier League and hopes Caleb Yirenkyi will eventually play for Arsenal or Real Madrid.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Joshua said he had never expected his son’s career to develop so rapidly. Caleb’s journey has taken him from starting from scratch to FC Nordsjælland, the Black Stars and now the English Premier League.
“I am really surprised by how far Caleb has come. I never imagined that he would go this farfrom starting from scratch, to FC Nordsjælland, then to the Black Stars, and now to the English Premier League. It amazes me every day, and as a father, I am extremely proud of how far my son has come,” he said.
Caleb’s progress has also changed the way his father is viewed in public, with Joshua saying he is now regularly recognised because of his son’s achievements.
“Because of his success, I am also enjoying some recognition and accolades. Everywhere I go, people identify me as Caleb Yirenkyi’s father,” he added.
Although Joshua is delighted with what Caleb has already achieved, he believes the midfielder’s career still has further room to develop. His ambitions for his son extend beyond reaching the Premier League, with a future at one of Europe’s most prominent clubs his ultimate hope.
“My greatest wish is to see him continue to grow, achieve even greater things, and one day play for a club like Arsenal or Real Madrid,” Joshua said.
