The Confederation of African Football (CAF), CAF has unveiled the official match ball for the 2023 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Puma AFCON 2023 football is called “Pokou”, as a tribute to the Ivorian football legend, Laurent Pokou.
Pokou, known as the man of Asmara, scored five goals in a single 1970 Cup of Nations match, a record that stands until today.
In terms of the design, the ball features the three main colours of the Cote d’Ivoire flag – white, orange and green, whilst incorporating the latest technology that will revolutionize the game on the continent and beyond.
The Black Stars of Ghana are pitted in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
The tournament will take place from 13 January to 11 February 2024 in the cities of Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro and Yamoussoukro.
