Medeama’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout round of the CAF Champions League suffered a significant blow after 3-0 loss to Young Africans in Tanzania.
Pacome Zouzoua, who netted to help Yanga secure a point from the first leg in Kumasi, opened the scoring just after the half hour mark.
Jonathan Sowah had the chance to pull the Ghanaian champions on level terms but missed his effort.
Seven minutes later, Bakari Mwamnyento doubled the hosts’ lead before Mudathir Yahya added the third in the 66th minute for the comprehensive win.
It turned from bad to worse when Sowah was given the marching orders after receiving a second yellow card in injury time.
Yanga have now leapfrogged Medeama to the second place in Group D with five points as the visitors sit in third.
Their next outing will be against Al Ahly in Ghana after the Africa Cup of Nations.
