The University of Ghana Stadium has been shut down for renovation for an upcoming CAF African Schools Football Championship, set for April 21-26, 2025.
The tournament features national school teams from 46 countries competing in the 2024-2025 season.
The preliminary rounds were set to be held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, with the University of Ghana Stadium hosting the finals.
However, venue arrangements have been adjusted due to the stadium’s closure.
Following the shutdown of the edifice Hearts of Oak’s Ghana Premier League match against Nations FC has been moved to the Tuba Astroturf on Wednesday.
CAF have set aside $650,000 for the competition with winner set to bagged $300,000, runner up $200,000 and the third-place finisher $150,000
CAF African Schools Football Championship was launched in April 2022 and previously hosted by South Africa (2023) and Tanzania (2024).
Ghana will be the first West African nation to host the tournament.
