Cadiz are still hoping to get out of the drop zone in the next few games when they meet with a Mallorca side who have rapidly turned their form around in the past few months before a meeting at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.

Once upon a time in La Liga, these two were right by one another in a relegation fight. Now, however, nine points separate the two and Mallorca can even start to eye up a spot in the top eight this season.

In fact, the club have won seven games so far and have a four-point gap on 11th-placed Girona, so they are guaranteed to stay in the top half of the table no matter what this weekend.

Mallorca are behind Villarreal in fifth by six points and also sit just off Athletic Club in eighth and Rayo Vallecano in ninth by two points each.

Last time out, Javier Aguirre’s side managed to edge past the struggling Celta Vigo in a 1-0 win to jump right back into the win column after two 1-0 losses in a row. Dani Rodriguez was the star that day once more for his team.

Mallorca did manage to lose 1-0 to Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey round of 16 last time out and also lost to Osasuna 1-0 in La Liga just prior to that.

However, the club got a stunning win over Valladolid a few weeks back, as Abdon Prats scored in the 94th minute of the game to seal all three points.

Aguirre’s men have also lost to Getafe since action resumed after the World Cup, which was arguably their worst result of the season given the context of the league table.

Nevertheless, Mallorca are far away from the relegation zone and will be pleased just to say that.

Cadiz, however, cannot say the same. They remain with just three wins from 19 games and the only thing separating them from being dead bottom is the terrible form of Elche in last place. Cadiz are just one point adrift of getting into the safe spots of La Liga.

Last time out, the club narrowly lost to Sevilla and they will also be without Ivan Alejo in this game after he was sent off in the match.

Forebet predicts a win here for Mallorca and for the game to see under 2.5 goals as Cadiz’s woes look set to continue.
