Charles Kwablan Akonnor has hit the ground running as the new head coach of Gor Mahia, Kenya’s most decorated football club.
He began training sessions with the players on Monday, ahead of the 2025/26 Kenya Premier League season.
Akonnor’s task is to build on the club’s domestic dominance and guide them to success in the CAF Champions League.
With experience managing Ghana’s national team and top clubs like Asante Kotoko, Akonnor’s appointment is seen as a boost to Gor Mahia’s ambitions.
The Ghanaian tactician has already started implementing his approach, focusing on pressing structure and shape, and players are reportedly impressed with his intensity and clarity.
