C.K. Akonnor appointed head coach of Kenyan giants Gor Mahia

Former Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has been unveiled as the new head coach of Kenyan powerhouse Gor Mahia FC.

The 52-year-old has signed a two-year deal and will be assisted by fellow Ghanaians Bismark Kobby-Mensah and Ben Owu, who joins as the goalkeepers’ trainer.

“Welcome to Mahia, Coach Akonnor,” the club announced on social media, expressing confidence in his experience and international exposure.

This marks Akonnor’s first coaching job outside Ghana, having previously managed Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, and AshantiGold, as well as the Black Stars.

Gor Mahia are looking to bounce back from a tough campaign and make a strong statement in upcoming CAF competitions.
