Brong Ahafo Region and Northern Region will meet in the final of the 2026 GFA Elite U-17 Girls Championship after both teams won their semi-final matches at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Brong Ahafo secured their place in the title decider with a narrow 1-0 victory over Greater Accra Region. Mercy Akilvoa scored the only goal of the match, completing another disciplined performance from last year’s runners-up.
The result extended Brong Ahafo’s unbeaten run and kept their bid for a first championship title on course. Having finished second in last year’s competition, the team began this campaign with the clear objective of going one step further.
They have responded with another impressive tournament, combining a well-organised defence with effective finishing. Their latest victory was enough to take them through to a second successive final appearance.
Northern Region reached the final by overcoming Volta Region 2-0 in the other semi-final. Salwa Sulemana put Northern Region ahead before Ruhia Mohammed added a second-half goal to confirm their progress.
Northern Region had made a strong start to the championship and carried that form into the knockout stage. Their win maintained their impressive record in the competition while setting up a final against fellow unbeaten side Brong Ahafo.
The final will be played on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, with the Elite U-17 Girls Championship title at stake.
Both finalists have gone through the tournament without defeat and have demonstrated consistency, resilience and quality during their campaigns. Their meeting will bring the 2026 competition to a conclusion and determine which region will lift the trophy.
The championship also continues its role in identifying and developing the next generation of female football talent in Ghana. With Brong Ahafo seeking to improve on last year’s runners-up finish and Northern Region aiming to complete an unbeaten campaign with the title, the final promises to provide a fitting conclusion to the competition.
