Bournemouth present third offer for Antoine Semenyo – report

AFC Bournemouth have returned with a new third bid to sign Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo from Bristol City.

The club saw two previous offers rejected by the Championship club earlier in this window but are believed to have reignited their interest. The fresh offer comes after complications arose around Nicolas Jackson’s move from Villarreal.

Semenyo has been a long-term target for the Cherries, with a late enquiry in the summer failing to lead to an agreement, but they have now stepped up their pursuit with a third proposal in the space of just over a week.

BristolLive claim the approach is an initial fee of £9 million plus significant add-ons, although Premier League rivals Crystal Palace are believed to also be in the race. The same outlet adds that Palace have been given the chance to match or exceed the offer.

It is not currently clear whether their package will be accepted, although it is thought that an offer closer to the player’s valuation could tempt City into a sale. Crucially, Nigel Pearson’s side would have time to secure a replacement before the deadline.

With just days left to finalise transfers, Bournemouth have stepped up their activity in an attempt to land several signings.

Dango Ouattara arrived from Lorient for around £20 million and made his debut against Nottingham Forest, while their move for Jackson appears to have struck a stumbling block. The winger’s hip and hamstring issues are said to be worse than first thought.

As a result, the club have looked to cast their eye over other names, with Semenyo remaining on their shortlist.

Semenyo has scored seven goals and registered two assists across 26 appearances in all competitions this season.
