Black Stars team manager Ameenu Shardow has strongly dismissed claims that Ghanaian players feign injuries to avoid international friendlies and AFCON qualifiers.
His comments come after key players ; Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey and Alexander Djiku — missed Ghana’s November friendlies, where the team lost 2–0 to Japan and 1–0 to South Korea. The absences sparked speculation among fans and pundits about the legitimacy of the reported injuries.
Shardow urged the public to trust the Ghana Football Association’s official updates.
“When the GFA puts out official information that a player is injured, do not doubt us at all. Because these things are science,” he told Sporty FM.
Head coach Otto Addo also revealed that preparations for the South Korea match were disrupted by injuries to Abu Francis, Mohammed Salisu, and Antoine Semenyo.
Abu underwent surgery after fracturing two bones against Japan, while Salisu and Semenyo were released back to their clubs for treatment.
Addo added that visa challenges made it difficult to call up replacements, but insisted that the technical team still prepared thoroughly with the available squad.
