The Black Stars’ recent performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers has led to a slight dip in FIFA rankings, as Ghana moves to 61st place globally and maintains its 11th position in Africa.
Despite a victory against Madagascar, the subsequent defeat to Comoros did not prove advantageous in the latest rankings released on Thursday morning.
Ghana secured a 1-0 win against Madagascar at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi but faced a setback with a defeat at the Moroni Stadium against Comoros.
The combined outcome impacted the team’s standing, reflected in their new position at 61st with 1384.19 points.
Meanwhile, the African island nation of Comoros made a significant leap, climbing nine spots in the rankings after their victories against Central Africa Republic and Ghana during the World Cup qualifiers.
Morocco’s Atlas Lions maintained their status as Africa’s highest-ranked team, securing the 13th position globally, while Senegal’s Taranga Lions held onto the 20th spot in the world.
