Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has disclosed that past arrangements saw Black Stars management committee members pocketing twice the winning bonus given to players during international duties.

Speaking at a press briefing ahead of Ghana’s World Cup qualifier against Chad, the Buem lawmaker revealed that his ministry has been reviewing budgets for national team assignments, trimming down certain expenses in the process.

“Black Stars management Committee members were on $10,000 as a winning bonus, while players were on $5,000,” he said.

He further explained that “previous administration was paying winning bonuses to national teams Management Committee Members.”

Adams stressed that the practice has been scrapped under his leadership. “Sports Ministry has decided not to pay winning bonuses to the management team members of the national teams.

“Per diem for each Black Stars player is $150, while technical team members receive $200.”

Meanwhile, the Black Stars are in N’Djamena to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4. They will later return home to take on Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
