Black Stars must contain Heung-min Son to challenge South Korea – Otto AddoBlack Stars head coach Otto Addo has identified South Korea star Heung-min Son as a key player to monitor ahead of their friendly on November 18.
Ghana are playing their second match of the 2025 Asian tour after a 2-0 defeat to Japan in the Kirin Challenge Cup last weekend.
Son, who currently plays for Los Angeles FC, has been vital for South Korea in recent years, and Addo stressed the difficulty of stopping him.
“He’s good on the ball. He shoots left and right. We have to prevent and stop his shots, which are very, very crucial,” Addo said.
The Black Stars coach also recounted his early days coaching Son at Hamburg, revealing communication was a challenge.
“He didn’t play too much because I couldn’t explain to him the tactics. It was difficult. Later, he did a great job for us at Hamburg,” Addo added.
Ghana’s defenders will face a stern test against the South Korean forward, whose runs and skill require precise defensive decisions.
The friendly kicks off at 11:00 am on November 18.
