Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations were dashed following a 1-1 draw with Angola in Luanda on Friday.
Jordan Ayew gave Ghana an early lead with a sensational free kick in the 18th minute, but Angola equalized in the second half through Zini’s powerful header.
Angola had a chance to build on their lead but failed to capitalize especially when M’Bala Nzola’s penalty was saved by Ghana goalkeeper Manaf Nurudeen.
Meanwhile, substitute Ernest Nuamah added energy to Ghana’s attack but was denied by Angola’s Neblu, while Angola also missed key opportunities.
The draw leaves Ghana fourth in Group F with three points, officially ruling them out of the tournament for the first time since 2004.
Angola lead the group with 13 points, while Sudan and Niger hold the second and third spots respectively.
