Former Nigerian Jay-Jay Okocha has descended heavily on the Black Stars team following their defeat to Cape Verde in the Africa Cup of Nations opener on Sunday.
The Black Stars campaign took an unexpected turn as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against against the Blue Sharks in their opener.
The playing body and technical team were in Kente attire which was hugely praised on social media for the display of the rich Ghanaian culture.
“I saw this coming for these West African big countries… Once you put more energy on fashion than on the training grounds, you are bound to collect back your fashion suitcase and go back home.”
“Look for example, we did not see Cape Verde flashing expensive outfits, because they knew their show will be on the pitch and green grass. Not on clothing market,” Okocha said to SuperSports.
Ghana now have turn their focus to the upcoming challenge against Egypt, seeking redemption and a chance to revive their AFCON 2023 campaign.
Coach Chris Hughton and his lads sit at the bottom of the Group B – topped by Cape Verde.
