Black Stars coach Chris Hughton remains unperturbed by the criticism he has faced from some Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials.
The manager who signed a 21-month contract in March this year, has found himself under scrutiny following his first three games in charge.
Notably, members of the GFA Executive Council, Randy Abbey and George Amoako, voiced their criticism after the team recorded one win and two draws. Even the team manager of the Black Stars, Ameenu Shardow, joined in questioning the team’s performances.
Mark Addo, the Vice President of the Football Association, also expressed his opinions on the matter.
However, Hughton has adopted a resilient stance, considering such criticisms as a regular part of the football world.
Speaking to Asaase Radio, he said, “This is normal. This is something that I’ve found since I’ve been here…whenever I’m going to games, people and supporters will come up to me and tell me what they think. So, one thing I’m always conscious of is football is highs and lows, and when you are on the back of what I regard as a poor result, and our last result against Madagascar was not the result that we wanted, there’s always going to be a reaction.”
Hughton emphasized his ability to remain unaffected by such critiques, acknowledging the ebb and flow of football sentiments.
The Black Stars are currently preparing for their crucial 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against the Central African Republic (CAR) in Kumasi on Thursday.
