Ghana’s Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, has declined to disclose the budget for the Black Stars’ upcoming matches against Chad and Madagascar, citing that it’s still a working draft.
Adams assured the public that the budget will be made public when the time is right, likely after national team activities conclude.
He also emphasized his commitment to transparency, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama’s directive to inject transparency and professionalism into Ghana’s sports sector.
“You will know it when the time comes. I’m saying that I will make it public. Has the National Team ceased playing? We have the next assignment in September; we have matches that we’re going to play and we will surely make it public,” Adams said in an interview on Channel One TV.
“It will be unfair to make a draft budget public, I’m not hiding it,” he emphasized.
“There’s no way I’m going to allow the Ghana Football Association to delay in presentation of a budget for the September round of matches.”
The Black Stars are currently on top of the Group I table with 15 points after beating Chad 5-0 in Accra and 3-0 against Madagascar in Morocco in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The team will assemble in September to face Comoros and Mali.
