Ghana’s U17 national team, the Black Starlets, have arrived safely in Accra following their impressive showing at the 2025 WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship in Ivory Coast.
Led by head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, the young side were welcomed in the early hours of Sunday by officials and management members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The team’s spirited displays throughout the tournament earned them a silver medal and, more importantly, qualification for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Members of the GFA Executive Council later met the team at their hotel, applauding the players and technical staff for restoring excitement and belief in Ghana’s youth football.
In recognition of their efforts, the GFA presented both players and officials with undisclosed financial rewards for their performance.
The players expressed appreciation for the association’s support and vowed to continue working hard ahead of next year’s continental competition, as Ghana looks to reclaim its historic dominance at the U17 level.
