Black Starlets beaten 4-2 by Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets

Nigeria’s Golden Eagles defeated Ghana 4-2 in the opening game of the WAFU Zone B U-17 championship at Cape Coast, Ghana.

The Golden Eaglets were the superior side throughout the encounter played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon,

Emmanuel Michael scored the Golden Eaglets’ first goal in the 12th minute with a beautiful free-kick.

Precious Williams, Jibril Aziz, and substitute Light Ike then scored the remaining three goals to guarantee that Nigeria won the game.

Abdul Razak Salifu and captain Collins Agyemang both converted last-minute penalties for the Black Starlets.

Ghana must defeat Togo on Friday 17th June in their last group game to advance to the next round. The Golden Eaglets also will take on Niger in their next game.

Each group’s top two teams will proceed to the semi-finals.
