Trainer of Black Satellites Desmond Offei has denied reports of interference from officials of the Ghana Football Association after winning gold at the just ended Africa Games.
Jerry Afriyie’s last-gasp strike against Uganda handed the Black Satellites 1-0 victory in Accra, crowning an outstanding performance for the U20 team.
Speculation of player imposition has been predominant under the Kurt-led GFA administration.
“The list that we got was based on the scout, scouted by our own scouts. That is the priority. In reality, we just picked the best players without any influence, zero,” he told Asempa FM.
“I am here to help the nation and I am here thanks to the President [Kurt Okraku]. Everybody is super motivated, super hungry to achieve the absolute highest for Ghana because we need to get back to our glory.”
Offei was named new Head Coach of the Black Satellites in 2023 as he replaced Samuel Boadu.
The 35-year-old who holds UEFA A (Level 4) Licensed Professional Football Coach, is a former Lokeren U-21 and Lusitano SAD head coach.
