Ghana’s U19 national team fell to a 3-1 defeat against FC Basel’s U21 side on Tuesday in Switzerland as part of their ongoing European training tour.
The friendly, played at the Nachwuchs Campus Basel, is part of a collaboration between the GFA and FC Basel aimed at exposing young Ghanaian talents to top-level youth competition.
Despite the loss, the team showed glimpses of promise but were second-best to the Swiss side in key moments.
The result gives the technical team a clearer picture of areas to improve as these players transition toward the U20 Black Satellites.
Ghana will play Basel’s U19 team in a second friendly this Friday, July 25 at 4:00 PM, with hopes of a better performance.
“Let’s go again!” the GFA posted after the match, signalling confidence in the team’s response.
The trip forms part of Ghana’s broader youth development plan to build stronger future national teams through consistent international exposure.
