Black Satellites defender Aaron Essel has made it clear that Ghana’s U-20 squad remains focused on national glory, not individual attention, as they prepare to face Egypt in a high-stakes quarter-final at the U-20 AFCON.

With scouts and agents reportedly monitoring the tournament closely, Essel was firm in his response. “Yes, we’re aware that scouts and agents are watching. But we’re not distracted. We’re in Egypt on a mission — to qualify for the World Cup and go beyond that to bring glory and honour to our nation.”

He also emphasized the calm and committed mindset within the squad, downplaying any pressure from playing against the host nation. “We’re not only playing for ourselves; we’re playing for Ghana. We want to leave a legacy and show that we are capable of carrying the torch for Ghana football into the future.”

Essel’s comments reflect a team unified in purpose and undeterred by external factors as they prepare to take a bold step toward continental and global success.
