The Black Queens will ramp up their preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with three international friendlies against Malawi, Botswana, and Nigeria.
These matches form part of head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s strategy to strengthen team cohesion, test tactical setups, and build match fitness ahead of the tournament in Morocco.
Ghana will face Malawi on June 21 and Botswana on June 25 at the Ziaida Complex in Benslimane. They will then take on rivals Nigeria on June 29 at the Lanouria Complex in a high-profile warm-up fixture.
“We want to test ourselves against different playing styles and team dynamics. Malawi and Botswana provide technical and disciplined opposition, while Nigeria offers the challenge of a traditional powerhouse,” said Bjorkegren.
Ghana opens their WAFCON campaign on July 7 against defending champions South Africa in Group C, with the tournament running throughout July in Morocco.
