Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s says his main ambition is to lead Ghana as far as possible in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Ghana return to the tournament for the first time since 2018 and faces a tough Group C with reigning champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania.
“Our goal is to go as far as possible in WAFCON. This is a step for us,” Bjorkegren said to the GFA media.
“Sometimes the step goes in the right direction, and sometimes it doesn’t. But we need to keep moving and getting better every single day. That’s more important than the results today,” he added.
The Black Queens kick off their campaign on July 7 against South Africa, followed by matches against Mali on July 12 and Tanzania on July 17.
In preparation for the tournament, Ghana played a 3-3 draw against Ivory Coast and will meet again in a return fixture on June 3. Bjorkegren emphasizes continuous improvement, focusing on progress rather than just results.
