The Black Queens have arrived safely in Ghana after securing qualification to participate in the 2024 Women African Cup of Nations(WAFCON) in Pretoria, South Africa where they triumphed Namibia on Tuesday evening.
Ghana lost 1-0 to the Brave Gladiators in Pretoria but the 3-1 win in the first leg played in Accra last Friday gave the team a 3-2 on aggregate edge in the end.
The team led by Women’s Representative on Executive Council, Dr Gifty Oware-Mensah, Coach Nora Häuptle and captain Portia Boakye landed at the Kotoka International Airport at around 11:30am to a warm welcome from Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, Vice president, Mark Addo, and some Executive Council members.
Also present were the GFA Women Football Development Head, Ama Brobey Williams, officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, GFA staff, the media, fans and other personalities.
