Charles Sampson, head coach of Ghana’s Black Princesses, has highlighted the importance of the ongoing WAFU B U20 Girls Cup, describing it as a key platform for player development.
Speaking after Monday’s 2-0 win over host nation Benin, Sampson applauded the tournament organisers.
“This has been a really good tournament for us. Our girls needed games like this to develop, and we are very grateful for that,” he told Ghana FA Media.
On the match, Sampson praised his team’s performance and resilience.
“We wanted a win today, coming back from a defeat to Nigeria, and we got it. The girls showed good character, and I was impressed with it,” he added.
The victory over Benin completes a double for Ghana in the tournament, boosting confidence ahead of their final group game against Nigeria on Tuesday, November 11, at 9:00 GMT.
