Black Maidens issued visas for pre-World Cup tour of USA

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed the entire contingent of the Ghana’s U17 female side the Black Maidens have been issued their United States of America visas.

The rest of the 13 players had their visas on Monday after the Ghanaian Minister for Young and Sports intervened.

Initially only 12 players and trainer Augustine Adotey were issued visas while the rest of the entire contingent were refused.

But chairman of the Black Maidens management committee Augustine Asante confirmed all members of the contingent have been issued visas.

“We reapplied and with the sports minister intervening, they issued all the visas for us so we will be leaving town on Tuesday night,” he told Accra-based Asempa FM.

Ghana will begin camping in the USA ahead of the 2014 FIFA Female U17 World Cup which is scheduled for Costa Rice next month.

The Maidens made history in the last edition of the FIFA Female U17 World Cup as they became the first African side to reach a medal zone place as they won bronze.
