GFA on Tuesday evening announced the long-awaited news of Bilbao striker, Inaki Williams, switching nationality to play for Ghana.
According to reports in the local media the 28-year-old has informed FIFA of his intention to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.
Formed at Athletic Bilbao’s academy, he has made over 300 first-team appearances for the club, including a La Liga record of over 200 consecutive games. He won the 2020-21 Supercopa de Espana.
Inaki Williams made his full debut for Spain in 2016.
Ghana Football Association welcomed Inaki Williams through their official social media platforms with a simple message, “IT’S ABOUT TIME – Welcome to the Black Stars, Iñaki Williams,”
The former Basconia attacker is now available for Black Stars call ups. This is good news for Ghana as the country prepares for the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Qatar.
