Bibiani Gold Stars are trying to sign former Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah as they prepare for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, chief executive officer Akwasi Adu has confirmed.
The Ghanaian forward is available after ending his time with Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi before the completion of his two-year contract. His situation has made him one of the most sought-after attacking players on the local transfer market.
Gold Stars have identified Amoah as their main target in attack following the departure of Samuel Attah Kumi, although the club’s plans are focused on making only a small number of additions to their squad.
“We have 27 players. At least 24 are confirmed. We are just looking around to add one or two players to some departments of the team. I’m looking for Albert Amoah to replace Attah Kumi,” Adu said.
Amoah joined Al Ahly Benghazi in October 2025 but found it difficult to establish himself in the team. He subsequently returned to Asante Kotoko on a short-term loan in January 2026.
Despite the limited number of changes planned, Adu made clear that Gold Stars are determined to complete a deal for the striker.
“Yes, I’m chasing Kotoko’s Albert Amoah. I’m chasing him until he comes. We are looking for one central defender, which we’ve gotten. We got this young player from Young Apostles, and the other role is an attacking midfielder,” he added.
Gold Stars have already addressed their need for a central defender by signing a young player from Young Apostles, according to their chief executive. The club are also seeking an attacking midfielder as they continue to finalise their squad for the new campaign.
Amoah’s possible arrival would give Gold Stars another option in attack as they prepare for the season, while also providing a replacement for Attah Kumi. Adu’s comments indicate that the striker remains the club’s priority target, with negotiations or discussions continuing over a potential move.
The club currently have 27 players, with 24 considered confirmed, and intend to add only one or two more players across selected positions. Their pursuit of Amoah is therefore central to the remaining work in the transfer market before the start of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
