Bibiani Gold Stars strengthened their push for the Ghana Premier League summit after a dominant 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars on Sunday at Dun’s Park.
Razack Sanou gave the hosts the lead in the 16th minute, before Arthur Justice doubled the advantage just six minutes later. Kumi Attah capped the scoring in the 70th minute, sealing a commanding performance for Gold Stars.
The win reduces the gap to league leaders Medeama SC to five points, after Medeama were held to a draw by Aduana FC. Bibiani Gold Stars also move closer to securing a top-four finish as the title race intensifies.
For Basake Holy Stars, the defeat leaves them perilously close to the relegation zone. Despite a recent victory over Berekum Chelsea, they struggled to cope with Gold Stars’ pace and attacking threat.
Gold Stars will next visit Heart of Lions as they aim to maintain pressure at the top, while Basake Holy Stars host Swedru All Blacks in a crucial clash to steer clear of relegation danger.
