Real Tamale United are in the top six of the Betpawa Premier League following their 3-1 victory against Accra Lions at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
Having drawn their previous encounter with Karela United which left them into the bottom five, a win at their own backyard was imperative to boost their stay in the top-flight.
Issa Kuka scored a 17th-minute opener but was cancelled out 16 minutes later by Lions’ midfielder Samari Salifu.
As the clash heads for half time, Mohammed Abdulai restored the lead for RTU with a fine finish.
Sadat Mohammed extinguished any hopes of a comeback after adding the third for the Pride of the North in the 57th minute.
The win means RTU are one point away from fifth-placed Accra Lions.
