Former Ghana midfielder Bernard Mensah put in an eye-catching display as Al Nasr recorded a 2-0 win over Al Ain in the second leg of the UAE League Cup semi-finals on Saturday.
The experienced playmaker was influential throughout the contest and capped his performance by getting on the scoresheet.
Mensah opened the scoring inside the first five minutes after linking up well with Abdoulaye Touré at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.
Al Nasr maintained their intensity after the break and were rewarded with a second goal in the 65th minute through Argentine striker Ramón Mierez.
Despite the victory on the day, the result was not enough to overturn the damage from the first leg, where Al Ain had claimed a commanding 3-0 win. That earlier deficit ultimately sent Al Ain through to the final on aggregate.
Mensah was withdrawn late in the game, making way for Moussa N’Diaye in the 82nd minute as Al Nasr looked to manage the closing stages.
With a two-year contract running until 2027, Mensah will now turn his focus to helping Al Nasr push strongly in their remaining domestic commitments.
