Berekum Chelsea will be aiming to end their poor home record against Hearts of Oak when they welcome the unbeaten Phobians to the Golden City Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues picked up a crucial 1-1 draw away to Karela United last weekend their first league point at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium since 2018 and hope to build on that result as they seek a turnaround in form.
Currently sitting 13th on the table with four points, Chelsea have scored three goals and conceded five, with a game in hand against Bibiani Gold Stars.
However, their home record against Hearts makes grim reading they have failed to score in their last five meetings in Berekum, with their last home win coming back in April 2018.
Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, are enjoying an impressive run under coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, extending their unbeaten streak to 16 games in all competitions (W10, D6) after a goalless draw with Heart of Lions. They sit fifth with nine points, having scored only two goals but boasting the league’s best defensive record and five straight clean sheets in Berekum.
“We always try to control our opponent and the game, especially without the ball,” Dramani said. “It’s definitely a problem not scoring goals, but we have our identity and we’re working towards that, home or away.”
Sunday’s clash sets up a compelling contest — Chelsea’s hunt for revival against a Hearts side thriving on structure and resilience.
