Bekoe returned to Accra at the height of the civil unrest in the North African country alongside his namesake and Petrojet teammate Eric Bekoe, with both telling tales of how they struggled to get out of Cairo.

“It was dangerous,” Eric tells KickOffGhana.com. “We moved from Cairo at a point, but it was spreading so we made our way back so we would head back to Ghana and eventually managed that.”

Eric is keen to return to Cairo, but Coffie insist he will only go back when he is convinced it is safe there.

“The coach has asked that I come back but my family is against the idea and I don’t know if I will feel comfortable returning right now. I don’t feel safe about going back,” he adds.

The Egyptian league is due to resume in March.
