The Chinese Super League moves into matchday 2 this week with a full slate of midweek games. The league season is in its infancy and teams are jockeying for position. The midweek set of games will see a Shanghai derby as Shenhua face off with SIPG in what should be a thriller.

 

Henan Jianye – Shandong Luneng

Shandong Taishan have a brilliant head-to-head record against Henan Songshan Longmen. Taishan have a record of 5W-1D-0L in the last six matches with Henan. They are seeking a fourth straight win on Wednesday.

Henan go into the fixture following a 2-2 draw with Dalian Pro on matchday 1. The goals were scored by Zhao Yuhao and Fernando Karanga. Karanaga’s goal came in the 91st minute.

Shandong Taishan won 1-0 against Zhejiang Pro to start the season. Defender Jadson got the game’s only goal. Taishan outscored Henan 12-4 across their last six encounters.

Beijing lost 2-1 at home to Cangzhou Mighty Lions to start the season. Yu Dabao scored a 90th minute goal to make the match look more respectable on the scoreline, but Beijing were well beaten.

Chengdu lost 2-0 the Shenzen FC to start the campaign. Chengdu dominated the fixture with 56% possession and 13 shots, but could not find the back of the net.

Shanghai Port go into matchday 2 following a 1-0 loss to Wuhan Yangtze River. Port are led by Brazilian players Oscar and Paulinho. Australian Aaron Mooy is also a part of the team. Shanghai Port are certainly one of the highest-profile teams in the Chinese Super League this season.

Shenhua defeated Guangzhou FC 1-0 on opening day. Zhu Chenjie’s second half penalty sent Shenhua to the victory.
